Padraig I

Patriarch
of the Kings
The first King of the current dynasty. Padraig was born in what is now the state of Forestana in 235 BP. He was the oldest son of the Prince of Ingallia during the waning days of the Second Kingdom.
During those days the reigning King of Cruisana was elected every seven years by the Four Princes. At that time the Elected King was Harold, of the land of the east, Aura. Harold schemed with the Outsiders (the Somarish, who were expatriates of Cruisana) to re-establish an authoritarian monarchy of inheritence.
Through his deception of the Council of Princes, and, eventually, the murder of the other three princes, Harold managed to consolidate almost all of the island of Cruisana under his control. Then things went wrong for him. Unbeknownst to him, the Somarish had been cooperating with him to advance their own purpose, the invasion and control of the island.
Narrowly escaping from the knights of Harold, after having witnessed his father's murder, Padraig was a teen when he found his way to the fabled Cave of the Ancients. From that place, carrying the Holy Sword of Cruis, he spent the next seven years fighting and rallying the people of the island. The campaign culminated at the epic Battle of the Waves, in the southeast, when the last of the Somarish invaders were either killed or driven off in what few ships they could muster.
Padraig was installed as King on March 19, 205, at the age of 30, just before the Battle of the Waves. Since that time this has remained Coronation Day. Upon his ascension to the throne he set out to create a body of laws that would govern the land, putting no one above the law. This culminated in the signing of the Constitution of Cruisana on September 17, 203.
Padraig (the Raven) was married to a young woman he met on his Epic Quest, the one called Lady Raven, Heather (the Heron). They had five children, and his oldest son succeeded him, as Padraig II. After transcribing his story of the War of the Outsiders, to Eric, son of Gunter, (the book entitled "Follow the Raven"), Padraig died at the age of 72. He was buried in the center of what is now the Royal Estate in Christianshaven.
